Are you concerned about your clothes losing colour when you wash them?
The colouring process of fabrics can sometimes cause dyes to bleed, called non-colourfast, when they come into contact with water or laundry products, which can be a concern. However, we have a solution!
So how do you check for colourfastness?
One way is to rub a wet white cloth on an interior seam or hem of a coloured garment. If any colour comes off onto the white cloth, the garment is not colourfast and the dye will run when washed.
However, if you want a more thorough test, follow our Power of 4 method:
Step 1: Mix one teaspoon of Laundry Powder in 1/2 cup of warm water and mix well.
Step 2: Turn an interior seam or hem. Place a dry, white cotton cloth under the test area in case the solution bleeds through.
Step 3: Dip a cotton swab in the solution and dab it onto the test area.
Step 4: Blot the area with a white paper towel. If the colour comes off onto the white paper towel or the test area has changed or faded, the fabric will bleed dye.
Step 5: If you have a garment with different colours (strips, colour blocks, or graphic print), test each coloured area separately.
